Two people died on the New Year eve following a fatal road accident that involved two vehicles at stage Muge along Eldoret-Webuye highway in Lugari Sub County.
According to Edward Owino, the accident which involved a canter lorry and a truck occured at around 5am after the two vehicles collided head-on.
Dozens of residents thronged the scene and looted hundreds of wheat that were being transported by the truck destined to a neighbouring country before police arrived and saved further looting.
Confirming the incident Lugari Sub County Police Commander Bernard Ngungu said the canter driver who was driving towards Eldoret was carelessly trying to overtake the vehicle in front ignoring the truck that was approaching from the opposite side at high-speed leading to the head on collision.
The canter was crashed by the truck and pushed several meters away, killing the driver on spot.

The truck veered off the road and ploughed its way into a eucalyptus tree plantation on the right side of the road before hitting one of the trees also killing the driver.
The two drivers were trapped in the wreckage as the locals and police officers jointly struggled to remove their bodies.
After several hours of struggle, they managed to remove the two bodies and took them to Kimbilio funeral home in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County.
Ngungu used the opportunity to urge both private and public service vehicle drivers to be extra careful while on the road to avoid unnecessary accidents that can be prevented.
