An eighty year old man is in police custody for allegedly defiling a four year old minor in Marukusi, village, Chevaywa location, Matete Kakamega County.
According to a children’s officer Mr. Jackson Murunga Jaluo the child has been spending most of the daytime with the octogenarian who is an immediate neighbor before the old man turned on her, defiled and seriously injured her.
He said the old man who was widowed more than ten years ago has been living alone and for the time he has been spending with the child made her parents gain confidence in him believing he was harmless.
Murunga said after committing the crime the old man went into hiding with officers from Matete police station working closely with his office launching a manhunt and managed to arrest him.
He said medical examinations confirmed that the minor had been sexually assaulted.
