A 52 year old widow from Musalaba village, Tongaren Constituency is seeking justice after she was attacked by his neighbor, beaten up and sustained serious injuries and broke her left leg.
Speaking to West Fm, Alice Chakait narrated how the man identified as Benard Mulongo attacked her leaving her with serious injuries and broke her left leg following a misunderstanding that erupted between them, after the widow who besides is the chairperson of the Nyumba Kumi Tongaren Division who were undertaking their duties to enforce the government policy to attain 100 per cent transition to secondary schools for the pupils who sat for the KCPE examinations, after which the neighbor attacked her.
Despite reporting the incident at Tongaren police post a week ago, no action has been taken by the officers even as the suspect continues to threaten her life day in and day out. The widow who has no one to help has called upon the relevant authorities among them non-governmental organizations that cater for the rights of the women to step in so as she can access justice.
Residents have complained despite reporting a number of incidents police officers tend to waste a lot of time before taking an action, hence denying locals the right to justice.
