A somber mood engulfed Vulilo Village in Tongaren Constituency following a 56 year old man who was found dead after committing suicide outside his house over the alleged piece of land, which he claimed to have been denied the right to possess.
According to the family members led by Hudson Mutasi who spoke to West Fm, the deceased Dennis Simiyu was found dead with a rope on his neck next to the window outside his house where he had tied the rope. The 56 year old was however said to have been drunk and had earlier on threatened to kill himself over the piece of land he claimed to have been denied the right to possess, besides having a number of issues among which family members tried to solve but did not yield any good result after which he was later on found dead leaving two orphans.
Police officers from Mbakalo police post, who rushed to the scene, took the body of the deceased to Kiminini cottage amid launching investigations over the incident that shocked the locals.
Jane Nyongesa, Vulilo village elder called upon the locals to seek for advice and counseling whenever they have issues so as to avoid and reduce such cases of suicide in the society.
