A high school student died on Monday morning after being hit by a speeding truck at Edmos area near Mwamba market along Eldoret – Webuye highway in Lugari Sub County.
According to the eyewitnesses, the form one student at Forestall secondary school was on his way to school at around 6am when he was hit and killed on the spot by the truck which was speeding from Mwamba market heading to Turbo.
Despite killing the student, the truck driver didn’t stop but instead sped off.
Residents have raised concern over increased cases of accidents in the area appealing to the government to look for means of curbing the situation.

“This is the third person to die in a period of less than one week after two other people died towards the end of last week,” they said, adding that the area has been witnessing a number of accidents every month.
The body was removed from the scene by officers from Turbo police station and taken to Kimbilio mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County.
