One faithful led others and a group of hired goons in demolition of Salvation Army church Kiminini regions in Trans Nzoia County with several properties vandalized and properties belonging to the church stolen.
Some of the church faithful led by Rose Liviala and major Isaac Liviala claimed the faithful in question Justus Wabwile is a member of the church and that he surrendered a portion of his land to the church which stands on but members of the church also contributed some cash to purchase an extra piece of land to the member who accepted pocketing Kshs.
380.000 claiming he led a group of hooligans together with some
church members in demolition of the church.
Major Isaac noted that the church has had several disputes pitting the owner of the farm Wabwile with other church members and that the management tried to come and solve warring factions to no avail as each side stood firm and didn’t want dialogue.
The demolition took place at around 10am-11 am when the pastor of the church had left the area as she took her children to school when Wabwile and his group raided the church compound demolishing it to the ground and there was nothing that was salvaged.
They blamed them for having taken such an action without consulting the management of the church, the administration of the area and even all members which they claimed has tainted the good name of the church stating that such action would have been worse should other side that supports existence of the church on the said farm knew of the plan and retaliated.
The action was confirmed by area acting Chief Sam Yaola who blamed the manner into which the church was demolished claiming the perpetrators didn’t follow due process of demolishing the church on the said farm.
He admitted having received some complaints from several members of the church concerning the issue and that before the two warring factions were not heard, one side has decided to demolish the church calling upon the church management together with administration to sit together and iron out some of the pertinent issues affecting them.
“As the Government we work together with the church and it’s a bad precedent for such behavior to be witnessed in today’s church which needs to advise and bring people together as the one fighting”, said Chief Yaola.
