A Kenya Police recruitment candidate collapsed and died on Monday while doing push-ups in Bokoli ward in Webuye West, Bungoma County.
The 26-year-old potential recruit identified as Dennis Wamukota, who was among 300 candidates who turned up for the exercise at Bokoli Primary School, had just completed a 6km run.
After the run, the candidates were ordered to do push-ups and that’s when the recruiters noticed that he had ceased movement and he was rushed to Bokoli health centre for treatment.
Wamukota was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bokoli Sub-County Medical Centre where medical officers from the Kenya Police took him for treatment.
His parents told the Media that the 26-year-old was also undertaking an engineering course at the National Youth Service. His sister Joan Wamukota has appealed to the government and we’ll wishers to support them in the plans of the burial of her brother as they are unstable orphans and can’t afford to pay the bills alone.
The deceased best friend Shadrach Juma said after he fainted the police took time to assist him with the necessary support, adding that if they had done it in good time maybe they could have been able to save the deceased. The body is in Lugulu Friends Mission hospital as it awaits postmortem.
