A Bungoma court has upheld the decision by Governor Lusaka to interdict seven officers who served in the previous regime.
The seven officers had been interdicted by Governor Kenneth Lusaka citing abuse of office and corruption related charges but they rushed to court to stop their interdiction arguing they were unlawfully sent home.
The petitioners had further asked the court not to swear in new appointed officers to give them time to appeal to the Public Service Commission.
They included Abidan Kapchanga -Chief Officer Public Administration, Isaac Mukenya-Chief Officer Governor’s office, Isaac Aruput -Agricuture and Livestock, Dr. Chris Nyongesa -Chief Officer Office of the County Secretary, Maurice Marango-Chief Officer Roads and Wakoli Wambati -County Secretary.
Giving her ruling Justice Jemima Kelly of the Employment and Labour Relations court dismissed the case adding that her court didn’t have any jurisdiction to give conservatory orders restraining the County from swearing in the new officers.
This gives Governor Lusaka a go ahead to swear in the new officers he had appointed and successfully approved by the County Assembly.
They included Reuben Wambwa -Trade, Everlyne Wekesa -Public Administration and Robert Simiyu -Agricuture.
