One of the suspects in the murder of the son of former Mosop MP Stanley Metto, Elly Kipkemei who was murdered at his home by unknown gangsters, has finally been arrested by the police in Eldoret. Confirming his arrest, Chesumei sub-county police boss Mr Bosita Omukolongolo said the culprit who is in his mid forties is one of the suspects who fled away after his colleague was caught and lynched by an angry mob at the scene of the murder. He said that the suspect, who is alleged to be an ex-KDF officer is a resident of Lelmokwo area and was arrested in Eldoret by the police who handed him over to one of the police stations in Nandi where he is being held and waiting to appear in court on Monday.
The guy is suspected to be part of a group of thugs who broke into the house of the late Kipkemei in Lelmokwo village at a couple of days ago and murdered him before escaping with house hold items of unknown amount.
The public managed to catch and lynch one of the suspects on the spot and on Saturday, they barricaded the Mosoriot-Eldoret road at Kapng’etich area in Lelmokwo/Ngechek ward wanting the police to hand over the apprehended suspect so they can take matters into their own hands but the police ensured the suspect was taken into custody safely. Lelmokwo residents are now asking the security officers to be conducting patrols in the area at night due to increased cases of insecurity.
