A suspected robber was lynched by an angry mob as his accomplices managed to escape after an attempt to steal from a house in Lower Kware village, Mautuma location, Lugari Sub County hit a snag.
Confirming the incident, Mautuma location chief Pamela Davava Kulali said the deceased Henry Mukhwana (22) was in a group of unknown number of gangsters who invaded the compound of Mr. Boniface Simbauni in the wee hours of the night with intention to steal before things turned sour.
She said the gang thought Mr. Simbauni had slept away since the front door to his house had been locked with a padlock from outside.
Immediately they touched the door, she said Simbauni who was inside woke up and used the back door to get out before raising an alarm that attracted villagers who quickly responded to his distress call.
The villagers managed to catch one of the robbers before descending upon him with all manner of crude weapons killing him on the spot as his accomplices managed to escape.
Mrs. Kulali warned the residents against taking the law into their hands, urging them to hand all suspects to police for a legal action to be taken against them.
The body was removed from the scene by officers from Turbo police station and taken to Kimbilio mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County as they launched investigations into the incident.
