An elderly woman from Mbanacho village in Sango sub location Likuyani Sub County is counting losses after her house burned under unclear circumstances.
According to Ms. Margaret Indekwa she had gone for the burial of her father Shiruli Tiboni Fwobe in Mapera village when she received information of her house burning.
“I was called by neighbors at around 7am telling me my house was on fire and when I came I found my property in the bedroom where the fire started reduced into ashes,” said Ms. Indekwa who is a single mother of five.
She said quick intervention from neighbors managed to put the fire off and salvaged a section of the property in the sitting room.
Ms. Indekwa said their father had five wives and his funeral had witnessed a lot of wrangles and she had received threats from some of the relatives over her stand on burying their father at Mapera where their mother who was the first wife was buried two years ago.
However she said she wasn’t sure if the relatives played a role in the incident.
The incident was reported at the Likuyani police patrol base where the officers have launched investigations into the incident. No suspect has been arrested.
