A middle-aged woman died on the spot after being knocked down by a speeding vehicle in an accident at BBC along the Kimilili-Chwele road.
According to her mother in law who was with her until her demise, they had just come from Kimilili town on a motorbike and she had alighted so as to pick her mobile phone across the road where she had taken it for charging and that’s when she was knocked down.
She said the car that knocked her down did not stop and sped off. She said the deceased, who is known as Hellen Wafula, has left four children and she urged the police to speed up investigations and arrest the driver of the vehicle.
Area residents called upon the government to ensure bumps are put on the road saying drivers are always overspeeding while on the route hence endangering the lives of many people as well as children who always cross the road while going to school.
They said ever since the road was renovated some five years ago no single bump was put on the road and many drivers are not cautious, an issue that has led to many accidents being witnessed every year. The body of the late was later taken to dreamland hospital mortuary.
