Police officers at Sebit in West Pokot County are making efforts to retrieve three bodies that have been trapped in wreckage after an accident that occurred on Monday night.
West Pokot County Police Commander Peter Kattam confirmed that the self involved fatal accident involved a motor vehicle with registration number KCD437Q with its trailer registration NO. ZD9677 make scania.
He said the driver of the trailer Kassim Joha and two others have been trapped dead in the wreckage.
He noted that the trailer was ferrying hardware materials from Kitale to Lodwar and upon reaching Sebit area near Daraja mbili the driver lost control of the said motor vehicle and overturned.
As a result of the accident the driver and two other unknown passengers were fatally injured.
“A turn boy namely Kelvin Wanyangi aged 22 escaped with slight injuries while other bodies have been trapped.” He said.
Kattam said police officers are at the scene to remove the wreckage and the bodies but the damage is extensive.
“The lorry had four people on board and we suspect the driver slept after driving for a long distance. He was fatigued.” He said.
He encouraged drivers to be cautious on the road and where possible they should take enough rest at stop over to prevent accidents.
“The stretch between Kamatira and Marich is very dangerous with sharp corners. We advise drivers to drive along that route during the day for security and safety purposes.” He cautioned
