AFC leopards coach to donate cash to charity
AFC Leopards coach Ivan Minnaert the winner of the Fidelity Insurance – SJAK Coach of the Month Award for March, has promised to donate part of the Ksh. 50, 000 he won for coach of the month Award to charity.
The Belgian tactician who was appointed at Ingwe club February 2016 received huge votes as the best coach for the period of 30 days by Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK)’s commission after beating John Bobby Ogolla of Nairobi City Stars and Paul Nkata of Tusker.
The team showed organisation at the den during the month of March. Many players lacked Kenyan Premier League experience at the beginning of the season but their performance has been impressive.
Minnaert registered his maiden victory against the 2015 Shield Tournament champions Bandari FC courtesy of former Thika United FC Kepha Aswani.
He beat their arch-rivals Gor Mahia in the season’s first Mashemeji derby at Kasarani 1-0 victory when Lamine Diallo netted in the second half.
The team drew with Chemelil Sugar 1-1 before beating Kakamega Homeboyz 2-1.
Leopards are third on the log with 17 points as well as Tusker and Mathare United but they have fewer goals.
The coach confirmed on his official facebook page that he will donate 25% of the cash to a charity that will be proposed by fans.
“First step is done and now up to the next. This is only the beginning. More reasons to work harder.” He indicated.
The award was an initiative between the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) and sponsors Fidelity Insurance.
“25% of the price money I will give away to a charity of purpose. Fans will have the possibility to choose the charity on the official AFC Leopards facebook page.
