Engineer Alfred Wekesa Sambu of Amani National Congress ANC retained the Webuye East constituency seat after garnering 11,532 votes defeating his close competitor Dr Wanjala Iyaya who garnered 9,682 votes.
Job Chelongo of independent got 3,684 votes, Dr Peter Khakina of Orange Democratic Party (ODM) got 2,616 while Butia Lusamoya of Ford Kenya garnered 1,965 votes. Labour party candidate Dan Simiyu came second last with 1,265votes while united Democratic Party (UDP) candidate Kingsley Mutali got 788 votes.
Speaking to his followers after being declared the winner by the constituency returning officer Mrs. Perris Saina at ACK mixed primary webuye tallying centre, Sambu gave gratitude to Webuye East voters for turning up to vote. He also thanked them for giving him a chance for a third term to work for the people of Webuye East.
Sambu made a promise that he is going to concentrate on industrializing Webuye east constituency to ensure that he creates more jobs for the constituents and grow the economy of the region.
Dr Wanjala Iyaya who conceded defeat immediately after the announcement of Sambu as a winner, he congratulated Sambu for a third term win. He however cautioned Sambu of discriminatory leadership where he claimed that Sambu should stop concentrating of developing on one side of the constituency while the other remains in poverty.
Martin Wanyonyi Pepela alias Investor who contested on independent won Ndivisi ward seat after garnering more than five thousand votes beating the incumbent Mr John Musakali of Amani National Conress (ANC).
Violet Namaemba Makhanu of Ford Kenya trounced the incumbent John Weyusia Nanyakha of Amani National Congress on Mihuu ward seat.
Ali machani Mutoka of Orange Democratic Party (ODM) retained the Maraka ward seat defeating his close competitor Mr. Washington Shibenga.
Some of the Webuye East constituents urged the Mp elect Alfred Sambu and others candidates who lost to work together for the benefit of the people of the region.
