Everything is set for the commemoration of one hundred and seventeen years since the murder of Nandi Orkoiyot Koitalel Samoei who resisted the British colonization for eleven years.
This is according to one of the Koitalel Samoei descendants David Sulo who is the Chair for Koitalel Samoei Foundation.
Speaking to Journalists in Kapsabet, Sulo cited that all the preparations for commemoration has been accomplished and that the ceremony which will be held in Nandi Hills will be graced by different guests including political leaders across the country thus welcomes everybody to the event to mark the 117 years since the brutal murder of the Nandi legend Koitalel Samoei.
Samoei who spearheaded the fierce opposition to the construction of the railway through Nandi was murdered by a British soldier Colonel Meinerhagen in 1905 in Ketbarak Nandi Hills during a peace meeting alongside with other twenty three cabinet members.
More than twelve thousand people were killed and their animals stolen also their land grabbed thus the celebrations is held every nineteenth October of every year in honor of the Orkoiyot.
The family is seeking compensation of 150 B shillings from the British Government for land historical injustices and other ill treatment meted out on the community during the colonial era where lives, animals, land and property were lost.
