Preparations for the Sirikwa Classic World cross Country Tour slated for this coming weekend at Lobo Village in Kapseret Uasin Gishu County have been accomplished.
Speaking to Journalists in Eldoret, the Director of the event who is also the Athletics Kenya official for Nairobi region Mr Barnabas Korir, said all is set for the competition as everything has been accomplished.
Korir revealed that the Athletics Kenya reviewed the cross country set up and have decided to do away with water and soil this time round because it gives hard and rough time to the Athletes and a times cause serious injuries.
The event was initially known as the Agnes Tirop memorial cross country which was conducted in memory of the late Tirop who was murdered and it will be conducted on 4TH February 2023 at Lobo village involving Athletes from Uganda,Tanzania, Ethiopia, Australia,Germany among many other Countries who will be competing.
Korir said the winner (first position) will go home with 6000 Dolars while the second will part with 5000 Dollars and third with 4000 Dollars in 10 Km senior Men and Women category.
Other categories include the 1 Km race, 5 Km race and 6 Km race respectively.
