Amb. Dr. Masafu puts a smile on a needy student’s face

A needy college student from Matili village, Kimilili ward has received academic school fees boost from the ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo DRC Dr. George Masafu, after the student traced him on Whatsapp. Talking after receiving a cheque and some cash for upkeep retired teacher Mr. Fred Masafu on behalf of the ambassador, Kelvin Wafula who is taking IT in Kitale polytechnic said he has been missing exams since 2019 due to lack of fees and exam fees. He then decided to utilize online support and when he heard of the support Ambassador Masafu was offering to the community in Bungoma County, he decided to look for him through a WhatsApp group and luckily he traced him and engaged him.

Kelvin Wafula went ahead to shoot his shot at the ambassador who promised to look into it. True to his word, Ambassador Masafu sent his emissaries to the student’s home and after getting the true picture of the home decided to chip in and support him. The student thanked Dr. Masafu for his kind support and promised to work hard and achieve his dreams of becoming an IT expert. 

While delivering the cheque Mr. Fred Masafu said the ambassador loves education and is ready to support the student until he is through with his college so long as he proves that he really wants to achieve his goal by working hard. He urged the parents of the student to offer enough guidance and counselling so that the student can prioritise education. 

Mr Masafu urged parents to take their children to school as its the only equalizer left. He promised that Dr. Amb. Masafu is willing to support the education sector across the county where he can and will continue working with relevant professionals and stakeholders in the education sector to support the needy.

Parents of the student, Mzee Benard Wafula and Mama Marita Nafula Wafula appreciated the support saying they are going through hard moments as they have other family members who are in school and cannot afford the fees. They appreciated the ambassador for his act of kindness just in time. Mama Marita urged the student to avoid bad accompany and utilize his time in education so that he gets the best and come to plough back to the community as Ambassador Masafu did.
