A gang of armed robbers yesterday 3rd March shot and injured a quarry company manager of Asian origin before robbing him in Manyonyi village, Marakusi sub-location, Lugari sub-county.
Confirming the incident, Lugari sub-county police Commander Bernard Ngungu said Dinesh Cmokha, the manager of Simba Quarry was driving his private vehicle from the quarry at Manyonyi heading towards Lumakanda before he was intercepted near Manyonyi junction by the gang of four people armed with a pistol and ordered him to stop at a gunpoint.
The gunmen then ordered the manager and the other four occupants of the vehicle to get out and lie flat on the ground, threaten to shoot anyone who could raise his head.
The manager was shot in the left hand in the process before being robbed of two smartphones, 25,000 cash, and an ignition key to the vehicle.
The Robbers then disappeared into the nearby sugarcane plantation before fleeing towards Lugari Market using a motorcycle of unknown registration number.
The injured manager was rescued and rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral hospital Eldoret for treatment.
The police boss said the DCI department has taken up the case and has launched investigations into the incident with an aim of arresting the culprits.
