Amani National Congress (ANC) leaders in Trans Nzoia County have said they won’t take part in the coming general elections if their party leader Musalia Mudavadi will not be the NASA presidential candidate.
Speaking in Kitale at their party headquarters, the chairman of ANC party in the County Herman Malavi said their party leader Musalia Mudavadi is more experienced than any other leader in the coalition, and it would be unwise to deny him the presidential candidate mantle.
The chairman said the NASA coalition idea is the brainchild of Mudavadi and it wouldn’t go down well if he is denied the presidential candidate ticket. “We shall not vote during the coming general elections if our party leader Musalia Mudavadi will not be the party presidential candidate,” said Herman.
The chairman appealed to the coalition co-principals Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka to consider fronting Musalia Mudavadi as the presidential candidate for the coalition arguing that the ANC party leader has a better chance of trouncing President Uhuru Kenyatta in the coming general elections.
His sentiments were echoed by the party women league affairs Sarah Tanui who said she will rally all women in the county to boycott the coming general elections if their leader Musalia Mudavadi will not be the presidential candidate in the NASA Coalition.
She said they fully support Musalia Mudavadi as their presidential candidate, and it’s time for their son to be given an opportunity to lead the country. She said some leaders in the coalition have tried their luck and failed, citing an example of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.
Moreover, the two leaders in the party said they won’t accept zoning as is being discussed by some in the coalition, promising to field candidates in all the 25 elective ward seats and senatorial and gubernatorial seats in the county.
