Amani National Congress (ANC) officials in Trans Nzoia want police in the region to expedite investigations concerning a case where unknown people scribbled paint on the party’s symbol and name in Kitale’s office.
The officials said the perpetrators of the act must be brought to book since the move is not only undemocratic but is well calculated to deny the party its constitutional right to grow across the country.
The incident at the office, which shares a compound with the Kiminini Constituency CDF office, happened at night.
“We want those who are behind this act to face the full force of the law, since what they’ve done amounts to an infringement on our right to sell our political ideologies in the country,” said the region’s ANC’s Secretary Ronald Simiyu.
The officials said those behind the unlawful act are frustrated by the way the party has gained popularity in the region.
They blamed their political opponents, saying they have been rattled after seeing their colleagues joining ANC.
They lauded their party leader Musalia Mudavadi for staying steadfast and making sure that the party policies and ideologies are popularized and accepted by every citizen in the country and Trans Nzoia.
The officials vowed to win over more residents in the region, as they challenged their opponents to brace for a tough political contest come 2017.
They said their leader Musalia Mudavadi is best placed to tackle the Jubilee government.
They, however, urged their rivals to engage in mature politics and not undermine the freedom of other aspirants. “We will not stoop too low and reduce ourselves to the level of dirty politics,” said Mr. Stephen Ndiema, a member of the party.
The officials also called on FORD-Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula to let go of his presidential ambitions in favour of Mr. Mudavadi, who they say stands a better chance of ousting President Uhuru Kenyatta. They added that he has a better chance in the Luhya community given that he has vital experience in the government, including being the vice president.
