The United Democratic Alliance party UDA has received a major boost in Likuyani constituency after officials and supporters of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party agreed to support Likuyani parliamentary aspirant on a UDA ticket Mr. Deberious Shikuku Wafula.
Speaking during a meeting in one club in the area, the ANC party officials led by their chairman Richard Chemwa said they unanimously took the move after the ANC candidate for the post Dr. Evans Taracha withdrew from the race.
“Following the withdrawal of our candidate Dr. Evans Taracha from the race we have held several meetings assessing aspirants from other parties and we have settled on Deberious Shikuku Wafula as our best option,” said Ainea Lihanda, an ANC official at the county level.
His sentiments were echoed by the youth’s leader Monica Juma and the people living with disabilities chairman Mr. David Khuro who said they believe Deberious will consider youths and PLWD in his leadership.
They vowed to rally their supporters behind Deberious to ensure he emerges victorious in the August 9th elections.
“We believe he will bring good leadership and steer Likuyani constituency to greater heights in terms of development,” they said
On his part, Deberious thanked the ANC officials for the move promising to serve all Likuyani constituents equally without biasness.
“I honor this move by the ANC supporters and I want to promise that I won’t let them down,” said Deberious.
