Barely a month after a 12 year old boy committed suicide by hanging himself in Lusweti village, Likuyani sub county, another 12 year old boy has hanged himself at Mawe Tatu village in the same Sub County.

Confirming the incident, Mawe Tatu sub location assistant Chief Wycliffe Masinde said his nephew Lewis Masinde, whose mother died several years ago, has been living with his aunt and he committed suicide in her house.

He said the aunt, Andrica Nekesa, left the boy at home as she visited her relatives within Mawe Tatu sub location but on returning she was shocked to find his body dangling on a rope from the ceiling of the house.

According to the neighbours the boy had spent most of his time playing with friends before he entered the house and never surfaced again.

Masinde said the reason behind his nephew’s move has not been established. “In our family we have never had cases of people committing suicide, and at this age its really shocking,” said the local administrator.

The deceased was a standard six pupil at Stella Academy. His body was taken to Kiminini mortuary in Trans Nzoia County as an investigation into the incident was launched.
