One dormitory was touched down last night at Ndivisi Boys High School in Webuye East sub-county while students were on entertainment since it was a weekend. This is the second dorm after another one was burnt down by students a few weeks after the schools reopened, that led to all students being sent home and made to pay ten thousand shillings for damages.
The cause of the incident is still unknown as the police have since started investigations but the school management sent form three students home as they were the ones affectd while other classes remained in school to continue with their learning. The fate of the form three students coming back to school remains unknown as all their belongings were burnt down to ashes.
The school management refused to address the media instead asked us to talk to the county director of education who also upon visiting the school refused to talk to the media and said the education ministry through the cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha had banned the media from covering school events and therefore referred us to talk to the professor.
However, some parents who talked to us outside the school compound said the burden has been hard for them to pay the first fire incident damages of ten thousand, and its going to be harder for them to shoulder another burden given that they had to clear the balance of the outstanding fees before they are admitted back to school. They appealed to the government and constituency fund to come in hand and help reconstruct the dormitory and lessen the burden of the parents. However, during the fire incident, no student was injured but their belongings and the building were damaged.
