Apollo Agriculture has been recognized for its commendable initiative in compensating farmers affected by floods and other natural disasters during the last planting season. Bungoma County’s Agriculture and Irrigation Chief Officer, Dinah Makokha, praised the company’s efforts, describing their actions as a “noble course” that provides a much-needed safety net for farmers facing the unpredictability of nature.
Makokha emphasized that while many companies provide farm inputs to farmers, Apollo Agriculture stands out by offering a comprehensive backup plan to help mitigate the effects of calamities. “Having a plan in place to compensate farmers in times of disaster is something that deserves recognition,” she said. She also encouraged other companies to emulate this model, which supports sustainable agriculture in challenging times.

Apollo Agriculture’s regional sales manager, Clinton Nyaga, shared that the company has already allocated KSh 25 million towards the compensation program, benefiting farmers from various regions. The initiative, which is carried out in partnership with APA Insurance, provides timely support to farmers who face significant losses due to natural events such as floods.
In addition to compensation, Apollo Agriculture is helping farmers make informed decisions about their crops by offering soil testing services. Nyaga explained that this service helps farmers identify the best crops for their soil type, further improving the success of their farming practices.

Farmers who have benefited from the program have expressed their gratitude and optimism, stating that they look forward to continuing their collaboration with Apollo Agriculture in the future. This initiative highlights the company’s commitment to not only enhancing agricultural productivity but also ensuring the financial security of farmers during unforeseen challenges.
