Lets protect children against sexual abuse

There are rising cases of Sexual Violence Against Children. Our children are not safe. This calls for a need to be vigilant when it comes to the children whereabouts.

Defilement, sodomy, incest, are on the increase. Many cases are not reported. The ones that are reported encounter obstacles that hamper access proper to justice.

Courts end up taking too long to make a ruling, children are facing repeated attacks, some parents/guardians are settling for out of court settlement. Children are under threat everywhere.

Its a high time to come and say no this behavior. It is very much absurd to find that access to justice takes too long in our courts, and therefore you find that more cases go unreported.

Worrying part of all is that the parents we have in the society today are wanting, how can a parent decide to go silent on an embarrassing incident that happen to the son or daughter out of his or her knowledge, it is alleged that most parents fear shame due to the fact that most of this happenings are done by close relatives and even the people we trust and to an extend we entrust them with our children.

As a parent bear in mind that such happening leaves your child tortured for the rest of his/her life, therefore make valid choices in decision making toward justice and avoiding shame.

Change in the judiciary to words this incidences for justice to take its course could be taking too long and may even take longer to be implemented, first hand solution lie s in the hands of the society lets play our role as a community to excess the community role of taking care of our children and protecting them without fear and favor.

Here are some basic household tips to consider always in our day to day life, know your house help well.

Know your neighbor, know the friends of your child, make an informed choice of the mode of transport for your child to school.

If it is boda boda, know the person well before you entrust him with your child. Monitor the activities of your child in the internet and offer guidance on good usage.

Don’t allow your houseboy to bathe your baby girl. More so let get back to the community role in the society, lets go back and accept that the child belong to the community and there it a responsibility to the community to see to it that the child is safe, and in case of any obscene happening to the child let as all click the a alarm without fear.
