At least 15 people have been confirmed dead after a landslide hit villages in Pokot South, West Pokot County on Saturday. The landslide occurred after heavy downpour, with houses, people ad animals buried alive. People living in the affected areas have been urged to move to safer places.
Earlier during the week, The Kenya Meteorological Department had issued an advisory, that heavy rains would continue being experienced in different parts of the country, increasing from Thursday through to Sunday, with landslides also forecasted. According to an official, the number of those who’ve died hasn’t been established yet. The Kenya Red Cross said they have dispatched teams to oversee rescue operations.
