Central Organization of Traders Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has told ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi to seek a ‘password’ that will enable him become Kenyan president in 2022. Speaking at St. Stephen’s ACK church in Busia town, Atwoli alleged that it will not be easy for Mudavadi to clinch the presidency minus the ‘password’, “We have had many popular politicians who had money and supporters like Kenneth Matiba but they never became president because they lacked the password.”
He also challenged Mudavadi to start courting leaders from other parts of the country instead of confining himself to Western region only, “We would like to see you walking with Kalonzo Musyoka, Hassan Joho and other leaders from other parts of the country who will enable you become president.” He was responding to Lugari MP Ayub Savula and his Emuhaya counterpart Omboko Milemba who were present and who had asked him and other Western leaders to support Mudavadi’s 2022 presidential bid.
The vocal unionist also challenged Mudavadi and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula to dissolve their parties and form one political party which will bring together all Western Kenya leaders and citizens, “The only way to achieve Luhya presidency is for you Mudavadi and Western to come together and dissolve your parties and form one large party which will accommodate all people of Western and let Wetangula support you as his elder brother so that you become the president of Kenya. But anything short of that is what I can call commercial politics which will lead us nowhere.”
Mudavadi however challenged Atwoli to give him the password he was talking about saying he may know where it is or close to it, “Now that you have talked of the password and you support my presidential bid, please I request you to help me with the password so that I become president.” He also insisted that he will continue talking to Kenyans to sell his manifesto and popularize his party, “I will not stop moving around talking to our people to explain to them my agenda and manifesto. That is very important in politics.”
Atwoli further reiterated that Mudavadi is still the Western region political spokesperson until end of 2021, “I want to repeat it here that since we installed Musalia Mudavadi as our Western region political spokesperson at Bukhungu stadium in 2016, he is still and will remain until end of next year when we shall meet again.” The mass and fundraiser at the ACK was also attended by Busia county governor Sospeter Ojaamong, Busia senator Amos Wako and Vihiga County women representative Beatrice Adagala among other leaders.
