Former Ndivisi MCA Martin Pepela Wanyonyi is the Webuye East MP elect.
Wanyonyi won against six other candidates with 12,864 votes defeating them with a big margin, Dr. Wanjala Iyaya (DAP-K) got 5,383 votes, Caro Buyela (Jubilee) garnered 4680 votes, Aggrey Namisi (ODM) got 4548 votes, Job Chelongo (UDP) garnered 1801 votes, Noah Chiuli (Independent) got 899 votes and Aineah Muyundo (UDA) managed to get 484 votes.
He contested on Ford Kenya ticket under Kenya Kwanza.
He joined politics in 2013 when he was nominated on a New Ford Kenya ticket in the County Assembly of Bungoma, he vied in the 2017 General Elections as an independent candidate and triumphed his opponents the seat he has served Ndivisi ward people until 2022 when he decided to vie as a Member of Parliament.
He is the first Member of Parliament elected as a person living with albinism in the whole country.
Addressing media after he was declared a winner he thanked Webuye East people for electing him and pledged his support to all those who voted and those who never voted for him.
Wanyonyi will be serving as the second MP taking over from Engineer Alfred Sambu who has served Webuye East residents for two terms FROM 2013-2022 since Webuye East constituency was formed from the larger Webuye constituency.
Elsewhere, Violet Makhanu Mihuu ward MCA (FK) has retained her seat,Alfred Mukhanya (DAP-K) has won Ndivisi ward MCA seat taking over from Martin Wanyonyi who vied for a parliamentary seat and Maraka ward MCA Ali Machani (ODM) has also retained his seat.
