Politicians allied to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition in Western region have asked Deputy President William Ruto to stop frequenting the region which they claim is Raila Odinga’s stronghold.
MPs John Waluke (Sirisia) and Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo) said the DP was wasting his time in a region that won’t vote for him.
The region has been backing ‘Baba’ in the four electioneering periods he has been on the ballot.
The politicians said leaders in the Kenya Kwanza coalition cannot be trusted and whatever they are doing in the region was meant to hoodwink local voters.
Waluke described Ruto’s rallies as inconsequential, urging the people of Western Kenya to embrace Azimio La Umoja and continue supporting Odinga’s bid.
He said Azimio means well and has policies that will resurrect the local economy.
“Leaders championing Kenya Kwanza in Western Kenya are responsible for the collapse of the region’s economy because they are not doing anything to protect local industries including Mumias Sugar, Nzoia Sugar and Pan Paper Mills,” said Waluke
Wangwe asked the Kenya Kwanza team to stop transporting their supporters from other parts whenever they have meetings in Western with a view to show the DP that they are popular in areas they come from.
This comes after Dr. Ruto held three rallies in the region last Friday.
He was at Kidundu stadium in Vihiga County before he moved to Mumias in Kakamega, Sirisia and Webuye in Bungoma County.
