A notorious Marijuana (Bhang) dealer in Kapsabet, Nandi County has surrendered himself to the police and accepted that he has been smuggling bhang business for many years.
The suspect known as Shabaan Moita, a resident of Showground area in Kapsabet, Emgwen constituency admitted to have been smuggling bhang to youths in the region and he revealed to have repented and left the business due to the pressure from the public who threatened him, for his life for spoiling their children with bhang.
Speaking with journalists in his office, Nandi County Commissioner Mr. Harman Shambi said the suspect surrendered himself to the authorities for his life after the public threatened to deal with him due to the harm caused to their youths subjected to drug abuse by the culprit thus saw it good to run for his life.
The commissioner noted that the culprit is a notorious bhang smuggler who was wanted and is good that he surrendered himself thus will assist in investigations.
Shambi cited that drug abuse among the youths in Nandi is on the rise blaming it on criminal actions being committed by youths in the region including rampant murder cases which has been witnessed severally.
“About three women in Nandi have been murdered due to family issues and love triangles going sour due to the influence of drugs by the suspects of the murder.” Shambi added.
On the other hand Shabaan Moita revealed to have been smuggling Bhang for more than five years but he has repented and is a free man thus will work with the security team to unmask those still using drugs.
