The Jubilee Elections Board in Trans Nzoia County has issued certificates to the candidates who won in the Jubilee party primaries. While addressing their supporters, the gubernatorial aspirant for the party in the County Maurice Kakai Bisau extended an olive branch to those who lost in the elections to work together with the ones who emerged victorious in order to strengthen the party at the grassroots.
Bisau appealed to those who still haven’t made up their minds to join the winning team to do so, saying the party needs everybody on board. He assured them that they will be given opportunities both in the National government and County government.
“We shall use the available opportunities in the County government of the incoming Governor and in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government to look for opportunities for those who lost in the primaries but remained loyal to the party,” said Bisau.
He said that the few aspirants who failed in the party primaries have shifted sides and are going to vie as independent candidates.
He, however, appealed to other politicians to promote peace during their campaigns and avoid using the youth to cause disturbances in their opponents’ rallies, saying peaceful rallies are essential for the residents.
His sentiments were echoed by Trans Nzoia County MP Janet Nangabo who urged the youth to shun tribalism and hate which emanates from politicians who are out to cause havoc. She urged them to avoid being used by politicians who are out to cause disunity among the residents. “I want to urge youths in this County to avoid being used poorly by the politicians who are out to gain political mileage and they later dump them after having achieved their ambitions,” said Nangabo.
She, however, applauded the security teams in the County for staying steadfast in ensuring that there was peace in the County.
Other leaders in the function included Endebess MP Dr Robert Pukose who said independent candidates should not be supported by residents as they don’t ascribe to the party’s manifesto and policies in the country.
Pukose said independent candidates won’t be trusted, and he appealed to those who lost in the primaries to join hands with the winners to make sure the party clinches many seats in the County.
