A boda boda operator has been found murdered and his body dumped along Bukesa Street in Busia town. The incident which is believed to have taken place on the eve of Friday, October 6, 2023, has left many operators lamenting the increasing insecurity incidents targeting boda boda operators in Busia.
According to their Chairperson in Busia County Boniface Okumu, the incident may have been happened at midnight with the perpetrators fleeing the crime scene with the victim’s motorcycle.
He further lamented that despite his members adhering to what he termed as injustice conditions imposed on them by the County government of Busia on their business, including limiting them to ferry passengers late hours, such incidences are still being reported.
Mr. Okumu has urged the security operators to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book or else, he will organize a boda boda demonstration as a way to push for justice.
