Nandi Central Police Boss Mrs. Doris Chemoss has asked the Boda boda riders from the region and across Nandi to strictly observe the road safety rules while on the road so as to avoid road carnages caused by reckless driving.
Chemoss directed them to ensure they wear their reflector jackets and helmets while on the road and every one to carry only one passenger for their safety.
“I want to urge all the Boda boda operators from Nandi to stick to traffic rules while on the road and ensure they adhere to all the rules and regulations.” She affirmed.
Chemoss who was speaking with journalists in her office, cited that as festive season approaches, it is important and more secure for all the road users to be extra cautious when on the road so as to avoid accidents that may arise.
“I want to remind all the drivers to avoid over speeding while on the road and instead use the required pace for their safety and that of their passengers adding that speeding is not allowed at all.” She added.
The officer moreover, reminded them to have driving licenses and insure their motor cycles for compensation when involved in accidents and also to report to the police station whenever an accident occurs.
Boda boda operators have been the most notorious cause of road carnages therefore there is need to sensitize them on the importance of road safety rules for their measures.
