Police officers in Nandi south have recovered the body of a seven-year-old girl at Kirundio river in Aldai constituency. Speaking to West Media, the OCPD Aldai sub-county Francis Warui said the girl who had been a pupil at Kamimei nursery school was left together with her two brothers by their mother who had gone to the shopping centres.
The three decided to follow their mother, unsure of where she had gone. The brothers came back home without their sister, saying she had crossed over towards the river.
Residents went to look for her but she couldn’t be found, until morning, when police found her body floating in River Kirundio, three hundred metres away from their home.
The OCPD urged parents to strictly take care of their children so as to avoid such incidences in the future. The body was retrieved from the river and taken to Kapsabet Referral Hospital.
