A somber mood enveloped Stand Kisa village in Koromaiti sub location, Lugari Sub County after the body of a ten year old boy was retrieved from River Kipkaren after drowning last week.
According to Jacob Mukabana a local diver who found the body, he has camped by the river searching since the boy was reported to have drowned at Maji Mazuri village in the neighbouring Lugari sub location on Thursday last week.
“For the last five days I have just camped here searching for this body until today when I found it,” said Mukabana.
The deceased’s parents Mr. Alfred Maina and Hellen Nanjala were informed after the body was found and identified it to be that of their son.
According to Ms. Nanjala her son Thomas Wanjala, a standard two pupil at Lugari primary school had gone to play with his friends and decided to wash a piece of sugarcane in the river before he slipped and drowned.
The body was removed by police officers from Lumakanda station and taken to Chebaiywa mortuary in the neghbouring Uasin Gishu sub county.
