A sorrowful mood has enveloped Lukusi village in Mbagara sub location, Lugari Sub County after the body of a two year old boy was discovered in a borehole a week after he went missing.
Confirming the incident Mautuma location chief Pamela Kulali said the deceased Stephen Simiyu and his mother Judith Kubai had visited his grandmother Robai Kubai in the village on Monday 9th August, 2021 before he disappeared under unclear circumstances the following morning.
Mrs. Kulali said combined efforts by the family, relatives and friends to search for the boy were futile before the granny discovered his body dumped in a neighbor’s unusable well.
It’s suspected the boy might have been killed by an unknown assailant over unknown reason and his body dumped in the well.
“Had he drown in the well he could have drunk water before dying, but as you can see the stomach is flat an indication that he didn’t drink water and we suspect he was killed elsewhere and the body dumped here,” said a family member as they appealed for thorough investigations into the incident and ensure the culprit are apprehended and face full wrath of law.
Officers from Turbo police station removed the body and took it to Kimbilio mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County for postmortem to establish the cause of his death as investigations into the incident continue.
