Sorrow has enveloped Mapendo village in Mawe Tatu sub location, Likuyani sub county after the body of a 24-year-old lady was found in her house on Tuesday night, residents unclear what had transpired.
Confirming the incident, Mawe Tatu sub location assistant chief Wycliffe Masinde said the body of Winter Ganigi was discovered by her mother in-law late in the night.
He said the deceased who lives alone normally collected milk from her mother in-law every morning but failed to take it on Tuesday.
The mother in-law became unsettled and suspicious after failing to see her the whole day because it was not her habit to leave the home without informing her in-laws.
She decided to go and check on her at about 8pm but she found her house locked with a padlock from outside. Since she had a spare key, she went back to take it and when she opened the door she was shocked to find her body lying on the bed.
The body was removed by police officers from Matunda police station and taken to Moi Teaching and Referral mortuary as they launched investigation into the incident.
