The body of a lady from Elgeyo Marakwet county who had drowned at Chepkiit waterfall in Nandi 3 weeks ago has been retrieved by divers. The deceased, Milkah Chepkemoi, who had visited the site together with her lover was swept away by the water currents when she was trying to take a photo. Residents and local divers had combined efforts to search for her body.
The body was retrieved on Saturday, and the deceased’s family is a relieved lot. The family’s spokesperson Kiptoo Chelelgo said plans for the funeral are underway. He lauded the efforts of the area residents and the divers, saying the family us grateful. The Nandi County government had already asked the national government to chip in and offer assistance.
