Residents and divers at the bank of the river where the teacher plunged himself

The family of a high school teacher who plunged himself in river Kipkaren in Lugari sub county 35 days ago has continued to camp by the river, searching for his body.

Local divers have been making every effort to find the body of John Mukhwana Murunga, who was a teacher at Nalutili Secondary School in Bungoma County, unsuccessfully.

A team of divers from icare school of First Aid under the sponsorship of the County government of Kakamega has also joined the search with the family hoping to get body of their kin and bury it.

According to the deceased’s wife Josephine Kanini, her husband left their home at Lumama village in Lugari sub location on Tuesday 11th August, 2020 but never returned.

After five days of searching it’s when the family received information that he had been overheard threatening to throw himself in the river.

Working on the information they managed to trace boys who allegedly witnessed the teacher plunging himself in the river and since then they have been searching for his body unsuccessfully.
