Two bodies out of the three people who drowned on Sunday night after a mother threw her three children and herself in river Nzoia at Makutano bridge in Lugari sub county have been retrieved.
Bodies of Winnie Kasaya (24) and her son Brighden Ogodi were found at Nzoia bridge in Lunyito village by a team of divers from icare school of First Aid led by their director John Tharuba Kariuki.
The divers who were hired by the Kakamega County government have camped by the river since Tuesday.
According to Mr. Kariuki they first discovered and retrieved the body of the two year child at 9:20am on Thursday before the body of the mother was found twenty minutes later being swept down the river before his team followed and managed to retrieve it.
Efforts to search for the third body of the four year old girl Alivitsa Miloyo are still on. The two bodies were removed by police officers from Mbakalo station and taken to Chebaiywa mortuary in Uasin Gishu County.
On Sunday night Winnie Kasaya threw her two children in river Nzoia before she jumped in carrying the young child aged two years on her back.
The eldest child, a 7-year-old girl, managed to escape after clinging on a tree and got out of the river before she revealed what had happened.
