The body of a missing laboratory technician at the Lugari Forest Dispensary in Lugari sub county, Timothy Wanjala Khaoya, has been found decomposing in River Nzoia.
According to the deceased’s father Mr. Joseph Khaoya Makhala, the body of his son was found at Milo in Webuye by men who were harvesting sand in the river on Thursday afternoon.
“A group of men who were harvesting sand spotted an object floating on the water towards them before it got hooked on a tree trunk on the side of the river just a few meters from them. They moved closer and after keenly looking at it they discovered it was a human body,” said Mzee Khaoya.
He said he was later informed and rushed to the scene where he identified the body to be that of his missing son.
He reported the incident at the Webuye police station before the body was retrieved and taken to Chebaiywa mortuary awaiting a postmortem to ascertain the cause of his death
The 39 year old lab technician went missing on the night of 12th October, 2020 from his home near Lugari station when his family members was deep asleep.
According to the wife Marrisellah Machani, the day her husband went missing he returned home from work in jovial moods and he never told her if he had any problem before he left in the night without her knowledge.
“We spent the evening well until at 9pm when we retired to bed but he didn’t tell me if there was anything disturbing him,” said Machani.
She said the husband waited until she was deep asleep then walked away and slowly opened the door without her notice leaving all his documents and phones behind.
“I realized he wasn’t in bed at about 4am, I thought he had gone to answer a call of nature but after waiting for some time and not seeing him returning, I decided to go and look for him outside. I checked in the toilet and even in the bathroom but he was nowhere to be seen,” said Machani.
Mzee Khaoya has appealed for thorough investigations to establish the cause of his son’s death.
