Farmers in Bungoma County are at liberty to loan farm inputs with ease from Apollo Agriculture, after a memorandum of understanding was signed by the organization and the County government to enable the farmers access the inputs.
Speaking after the event, Apollo Agriculture officer Peter Muthii said it is a milestone and a historic step in their operations saying they have now formalized their working relationship with Bungoma County government saying farmers will be the greatest beneficiaries.
He disclosed that they have been in operation in Bungoma for over a year now and so far the reception has been marvelous since many farmers have been able to embrace their services saying they are looking forward to engage more with them.
Mr. Muthii applauded the commitment of the County government to work with them as partners saying their inputs have been certified and they also offer training to farmers as well as insurance.
Bungoma County Agriculture CEC Mathews Makanda said with the MOU in place, farmers can comfortably get farm inputs and repay according to the agreement saying it will boost food security in the county.
He however, cautioned farmers against unscrupulous brokers who may take advantage of them during this planting season to want to entice them to purchase farm inputs saying they have to confirm with the agriculture officers on the ground about which organisation the government is partnering with first.
