A 15-year-old boy was electrocuted to death after the driver of a tipper lorry hit an electric pole along Makutano-Kitale road at Psigirio area. Confirming the incident, Kapenguria OCPD Anthony Wanjuu said the deceased, Andrew Mutso, who was a KCPE candidate at Psigirio primary school, met his demise while coming from school at around 3.00pm on Tuesday.
He revealed that the driver of the tipper lorry John Kamau carelessly hit the electric poles which led to the electric lines being cut and subsequently struck the boy, leading to his instant death.
He said the driver has been arrested and he is in custody awaiting to be charged at Kapenguria law court.
“The tipper with registration number KCA 634z belonging to Munga transporters was the one which was involved in the accident,” he said.
He added that the body of the deceased was taken to Kapenguria referral hospital mortuary as police officers continue with investigations.
However, locals voiced their displeasure with the incident. Meshack Kakuko, one of the eyewitnesses and a neighbour, said the government should compensate the deceased’s family members because the driver was driving carelessly.
