“The Pentecostal Assemblies of God pastor came and found us watching a football match in our neighbourhood and since all chairs had been occupied I offered him my seat as a sign of respect,” explained the boy.
However, he said the pastor started a political discussion and he declared his interest in Lugari ward member County assembly seat in the 2022 elections, a suggestion which sounded amusing. “When he said he was going to vie for MCA post I was the first one to question the credibility of his statement before everyone burst out laughing,” said Ngoya, “His academic qualification was also questioned and it was alleged that the pastor was a standard seven drop out and can’t qualify for that seat.”
Angered by the ridicules the pastor pounced on the young boy and bit him on the chest and ran away. The boy was rushed to Marakusi dispensary where he was given first aid
before being transferred to Lumakanda Sub County hospital.
The victim’s mother Mrs. Esther Andenya has expressed her disenchantment saying it was shocking to see the pastor who is supposed to be a role model in society engaging in such ugly acts.
She said her efforts to have the case settled at home have been futile
since the pastor and his family have ignored her request. “I didn’t want to take this matter into court because we are members of one church I just wanted the pastor to help settle the hospital bill but he hasn’t responded to my request so I’m thinking of taking
another step,” said Mrs. Adenya.
