Bukembe squized 3-1 past Kamusinde in an entertaining soccer boys’ final played at Mukuyuni Secondary School ground over the weekend.
The match started on a high note with both teams aiming to represent Bungoma County in this year’s Regional games that will kick off in Turkana County later this month.
Bukembe striker’s was on target just two minutes into the match only for Kamusinde’s goalkeeper to register a fine save that kept his side in the match.
Another shot was on target for Bukembe at the 7th minute but this went wide as the pace of the match increased.
Thousands of fans who turned up for the event could not get an opportunity to go silent or even sit as the striking forces for both teams sharpened their boots for the task.
Barasa Shikami was the fast striker to record his name in the scoring sheet for Bukembe in the 20th minute through a hard strike that went past Kamusinde’s goalkeeper.
The goal lasted for 30 minutes with all attempts from Kamusinde aimed at looking for an equalizer bearing no fruits and at the end of first half it was still 1-0 in fever of Bukembe.
The second half was bigger and better for both teams with Kamusinde having a full go to Bukembe defending their lone strike.
Omondi Victor headed home a second goal for Bukembe 12 minutes after the beginning of the second half to shut down Kamusinde’s hopes of emerging victorious.
Kamusinde struggled to score at least a goal at the 60th minute but was not enough to eliminate Bukembe who opted for defence as an option to pocket the three points scoring their third goal at the 80th minute to render their opponent’s goal just a consolation.
St. Brender Girls’ Misikhu thrashed new comers Chelebei Girls 5-0 in a one sided girls’ final to be crowned ladies legball champions .
Three minutes were enough for the 1st goal to be scored as four goals followed in the 1st half.
The second half was a training session for Misikhu who displayed all skills that they might perhaps use during the regional games.
Namwela boys hammered the former volleyball defending champions Mang’ana 3-2 sets to be crown champions.
Both teams’ Namwela and Mang’ana had lost no game at the group and the knock out stages and the final as was expected was a battle of the heroes.
The fast two sets were taken home by Mang’ana though a struggle with Namwela showing all intentions of not letting the trophy go.
Namwela came from behind won two sets before smashing Mang’ana in the 3rd to book the only ticket for the regional games.
Namwela qualified for the finals after eliminating Siumbwa 3-0 sets as Mang’ana sent home St Patrick Naitiri with the same win.
Lugulu retained the ladies volleyball trophy beating Naitiri 3-0 sets in the finals.
It was an easy ride for the reigning champions who eliminated all their opponents to prove their readiness for the regionals.
