Bumula Member of parliament Mwambu Mabonga has supported the High Court’s ruling on the BBI report few days ago.
Addressing journalists in his Mwiyenga home in his constituency when he had a meeting with Muslims across his area in their Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations and discussing development of the region, Mwambu said the BBI report has goodies for a common mwananchi but all stakeholders were supposed to be given chance to air out their views.
“Today we have had a meeting with our Muslim brothers and as you know they have just ended their one month fasting and they were praying for us as well as praying for peace to prevail in our country, therefore I thought it was wise to come together with them so that we can dine and discuss development issues as Bumula residents, we have also had plans with them as you know as the government is planning Muslims too have their plans,” said Mwambu
“My position has always been clear, all is not lost anyway even after the ruling of the High Court, but it is a clear message especially to the Head of State and Former Prime Minister that it is very important and this Kenya belongs to all of us, moving to Court of Appeal is not a solution but what I would suggest is that you see time is not on our side they could have taken time to reflect on the ruling and not politicize the entire ruling so that they bring everybody on board, all Kenyans to be included and this is what we are talking about so that if everybody sees that is part of this process we will have a better country,” added the Bumula legislator
The Bumula legislator wanted the government to prioritize Kenyans needs especially during this time when the country’s economy is hit hard by Covid-19 pandemic.
“There are priorities somehow misplaced because right now parliamentarians that were vaccinated we have been told that we cannot get the second vaccine we have been given another four weeks and this is because of financial constrain those are some of the things we are raising that the billions that is taken in the BBI process be taken to our schools so that our children, teachers can be vaccinated and everybody who is a first line defender to ensure that is vaccinated, I am not saying that the entire document is bad as you can see Bumula is one of the largest constituencies I would love to have another constituency but if we have the process which is respected by all Kenyans that one is the essence of leadership,” he said
He however, condemned incidents where politicians use funerals as political grounds to square their political scores as he wanted church leaders not to allow such as he used that moment to condemn the act where Kimilili MP was snatched a microphone by a mourner and went to an extend of slapping him in a funeral function in Kibingei ward over the weekend.

“We should not raise temperatures of politics at this moment let us focus on development and that is the agenda of the government, people who go to funeral to do a lot of politics and insult people should not be given even room in funerals, am appealing to pastors and Imams, in other regions some politicians are not given chance even if you are a member of parliament because we have come to condole that should be the purpose of the funeral if we are doing public politics we need to have our own meetings so it’s good to respect mourners and again if somebody has uttered a statement that upsets you don’t fight it shows a bad picture to leaders, therefore I condemn it,” he affirmed
Muslims leaders who were in the meeting applauded Mwambu for the closeness he has to them as they said that he is an accommodative leader, he does not look at people’s religion, and revealed the development projects he has done for Muslim faithful in Bumula as they promised to support him fully in his leadership.

“It’s our pleasure to be here today with our area MP, as Muslims from Bumula we want to thank him since he honors promises he makes to us, he promised us that he would come with former majority leader in the National Assembly, Aden Duale who is a member of parliament for Garissa Town and he came with him and contributed for us money where each mosque got a hundred thousand which helped us in our plans, on education side our MP has been awarding bursaries to our children even today we have brought him results how they performed we have those who will be joining university and he has promised to continue supporting them,” they revealed
