Bungoma and Busia counties share trophies
Bungoma County is the new Nzoia region primary school boy’s soccer champion after humiliating the hosts Busia County 2-0 in an entertaining final played at St. Josephs Chakol ground in Teso South sub County.
Busia Soccer girls who hammered defending champions Kakamega 4-0 on Friday were beaten on penalties by Trans Nzoia in the semifinals.
Busia handball boys beat last year’s runners up Trans Nzoia 15-11 in the finals to be crowned champions with their girls counterparts beating Bungoma to retain their title.
The hosts also ensured that the netball girl’s trophy remained in their position after beating Kakamega 29-25 in the finals.
Busia and Bungoma Counties shared top honors when they won three titles each with Busia wining the handball Boys and Girls and Netball Girls tittles with Bungoma clinching the netball boys, volleyball girls and soccer boy’s titles.
Trans Nzoia emerged the third best county when they won the volleyball boys and soccer girl’s titles. As Kakamega returned home empty handed after surrendering the netball girls and soccer girl’s titles they won last year.
Nzoia region will send combined teams for the national championships scheduled for Eldoret starting April 14th.
Wiyeta and Bishop Njenga’s principals whose schools have dominated women soccer and coaches from Tartar and Butere Girls watched the matches in a bid to identify the talents earlier.
