A Bungoma caucus group official has lashed out at leaders from the Mulembe community who have criticized former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale for openly supporting Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 Presidential bid. His decision was received with mixed reactions from residents and leaders from the region.
Some leaders have said that it’s too early to throw the region’s support behind the DP.
Bungoma’s Fwabene Amua group chairman George Kukali said that they will mobilize youths in Bungoma and the entire Western region to campaign for DP Ruto. “We want to warn those criticizing the bull fighter over his stand to support Ruto that they should stop misleading and lying to our electorate,” he said.
Kukali noted that DP Ruto is the only viable candidate who has the muscles to marshal a presidential campaign. “Our leaders in Western currently don’t have what it takes to win a Presidential race,” he said, adding that the Deputy President has overseen development in the region.
Moreover, Kukali said that Khalwale speaks for the local ‘hustlers’ who want a fellow ‘hustler’ to become President. “The other leaders who are fighting Ruto’s bid are children of dynasties and we want to bring them down by having a man from a poor background,” he said. He said that the war on graft should not be used to block the DP’s bid since every office in this country has graft cases.
