As the world commemorated Environment Day on June 5, 2025, Bungoma residents voiced a powerful message: environmental conservation is everyone’s responsibility. Local businessman Pamba Emmanuel urged residents to take collective action by disposing of waste in designated areas.
He also highlighted the potential of Bungoma’s youth in driving environmental change, proposing the creation of job opportunities in environmental conservation sectors. Emmanuel suggested that unemployed youths could be trained and employed in various departments, stating, “If more people were employed in the environmental conservation sector, it would be easier to take care of our environment.”
Sichangi Selvine, a local innovator, shared a compelling vision: transforming waste materials into modern tools. He stated, “If youth become innovative by creating modern tools from waste materials, they will greatly reduce environmental pollution.” Selvine also called on the government to designate specific areas for waste disposal and to continue supporting national tree-planting campaigns.
As the world unites for a greener future, the message is clear: environmental conservation is a collective effort.
